CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Va. – Virginia State Police have identified the pedestrian who was struck and killed in Charlotte County Saturday night as 28-year-old Tevin R. Smith of South Boston.

Smith was attempting to cross Kings Highway near American Dream Lane about 9:45 p.m. when he was struck by a Chevy suburban headed east on the highway. The vehicle was unable to avoid Smith, who died at the scene.

The driver of the Suburban, a 73-year-old Powhattan County man, was uninjured in the crash.

The accident remains under investigation.
