DANVILLE, Va. – A Danville man died Monday afternoon after crashing his car on the South Boston Road.
Danville Police believe 63-year-old Michael Simmons may have suffered some type of medical emergency just before the accident.
The crash happened about 12:35 p.m. on Route 58 near the intersection of Gough St. Simmons was traveling westbound in a 2001 silver Toyota Echo when witnesses saw his car begin to swerve before it left the roadway and hit a metal pole. Simmons died at the scene.
There was no evidence of distracted driving or that alcohol or drugs were involved.
