WASHINGTON, D.C. – President Donald Trump delivered his farewell address to the nation Tuesday, thanking Americans for the privilege to serve as their leader for the past four years and saying he will pray for the success of the next administration.

Trump also condemned the violence that rocked Washington, D.C. on Jan. 6. “All Americans were horrified by the assault on our Capitol. Political violence is an assault on everything we cherish as Americans. It can never be tolerated,” Trump said.

President Trump also singled out what he sees as his top achievements in office, including a robust pre-pandemic economy and efforts to normalize relations in the Middle East.

“We did what we came here to do — and so much more,” Trump said.

He also wished President-elect Joe Biden success. “This week, we inaugurate a new administration and pray for its success in keeping America safe and prosperous. We extend our best wishes, and we also want them to have luck — a very important word.”
