DANVILLE, Va. — American National Bankshares Inc. (AMNB) on Thursday reported fourth-quarter net income of $8.8 million.

The bank, based in Danville, Virginia, said it had earnings of 80 cents per share.

The bank holding company posted revenue of $28.7 million in the period. Its revenue net of interest expense was $26.4 million, exceeding Street forecasts.

For the year, the company reported profit of $30 million, or $2.73 per share. Revenue was reported as $100.7 million.

American National Bankshares shares have risen 6% since the beginning of the year. The stock has fallen 25% in the last 12 months.
