DANVILLE, Va. – Danville Police are investigating a shooting that happened on the south side of town early Thursday morning.

Investigators were called to 307 Chatelaine Ave. around 2:30 a.m. after receiving a report that a person had been shot. They arrived to find an 18-year-old with a gunshot wound to the upper chest. 

The victim was taken to Sovah-Health Danville for treatment. A condition report was not available Thursday morning.

Police and Crime Scene units blocked off Chatelaine to Southampton Ave. as investigators gathered evidence.

There was no word on a possible suspect in the shooting.
