HENRY COUNTY, Va. – A Henry County man has been jailed on drug charges following a lengthy standoff Thursday.

At about 11:40 a.m., deputies responded to 58 Sanville School Road. in Bassett, where they found 30-year-old Jamie Lee Ore outside his home. As a deputy began to approach him, he fled into the house. Deputies had a warrant for his arrest but  Ore refused to come out.

A search warrant was obtained and a tactical team with negotiators was called in to assist with the arrest. Negotiators were able to make contact with Ore through an open window. After he’d been holed up inside the house for two hours, Ore surrendered and was taken into custody.

Ore is charged with four counts of manufacturing, selling, giving, distributing, or possessing with intent to manufacture, sell, give, or distribute a controlled substance; and one count of contempt of court.
