DANVILLE, Va. – About 900 Danville Utilities customers are without power as a result of downed lines caused by icing. The affected areas include north Danville and Ringgold.
Danville Utilities reports power outages in multiple areas due to fallen trees.
While most icing is confined to trees, bridges and overpasses are ice-covered and some streets remain slick. Public Works Department crews treated bridges and overpasses during the night and remain on duty.
The Danville Police Department responded to three accidents overnight due to icing. All three were single-vehicle wrecks with minor injuries.
Danville Transit is operating on a regular schedule.
The National Weather Service has Danville under a Winter Storm Warning through noon Sunday with additional icing possible overnight.
