DANVILLE, Va. – A Winter Weather Advisory for the Danville area ended at 10 a.m. Sunday. The National Weather Service reported little additional icing overnight and light rain for much of the area. There is a 50% chance of rain Sunday afternoon and a high around 38.

Danville Utility crews continue to work to restore power to those who lost service from Saturday’s storm. More than 20,000 customers were without power at the height of the storm.

All substation feeders have been restored except for the Kentuck substation and one feeder at the Whitmell substation. Damage from fallen trees is extensive in the Kentuck area.

At 8 a.m., approximately 2,500 customers were without power. Most of the customers without power are in the Kentuck area.

Crews are working staggered 16-hour shifts. They are being assisted by crews from three N.C. cities.

From 12 a.m. through 9 p.m. Saturday, Virginia State Police had responded to a total of 195 disabled vehicles and 366 traffic crashes statewide. There were no fatal crashes.
