CHATHAM, Va. – The storm has caused more problems for Pittsylvania County. A boil water notice was issued Thursday for the towns of Chatham and Tightsqueeze after a major water leak was discovered in the Tightsqueeze area.
Flooding in the Cherrystone Creek caused debris to break a section of a water line belonging to the town of Chatham. Water pressure has dropped due to the leak. The leak also affects customers of the PCSA because the PCSA purchases water from the town of Chatham.
A boil water notice is in effect for customers of both water providers in the Tightsqueeze area extending from Davis Road in Chatham through Tightsqueeze and along Dry Fork and Pleasant Gap Roads.
The leak affects customers in Chatham and the Pittsylvania County Service Authority.
The town of Chatham plans to begin repairing the line Friday morning, and customers are asked to continue conserving water in the meantime.
