ROCKY MOUNT, Va. – Two people are dead following a weekend stabbing in Franklin County. The sheriff’s department received a 911 call Saturday night from the 200 block of Southside Drive in Rocky Mount. A relative advised authorities that a family member had stabbed another family member.

Deputies found the caller, a juvenile, outside the home.

Inside, they found 70-year-old Jacqueline Green dead of stab wounds. Efforts to revive her were unsuccessful.

Franklin County Sheriff’s investigators and Virginia State Police found the suspect, 40-year-old Silas Leon Green, Jr., dead at his home on Southside Drive from what appeared to be self-inflicted wounds.

State and local authorities are continuing their investigation.
