MARTINSVILLE, Va. – The grandparents of a 5-year-old Martinsville girl face felony neglect charges after the child was found wandering barefoot in her pajamas not far from the couple’s home.

The incident was reported Friday morning when a woman spotted the child in some bushes on Roy St.

Martinsville Police and child Protective Services were called and the girl was able to lead them to her grandparents’ home, where authorities charged Teresa Hill and Robert Underwood with felony child neglect. Both were placed in the Martinsville City Jail.

Investigators note that Hill was charged with child endangerment in Henry County following an incident involving the same child in March of last year.
