DANVILLE, Va. – There were no injuries in a fire at 122 Rosedale Court Thursday evening.

The fire started in a car and then spread to the house and carport. Neighbors reported hearing an explosion as the car burst into flames.

Crews arrived at 6:18 to find heavy smoke and a vehicle heavily involved in the driveway with fire extending into the home.  The homeowner was out of the house when firefighters arrived.  Fire crews immediately began dousing the fire and entered the home to check for any other occupants.  Additional units were called to the scene to assist the initial crews.

The cause is being investigated by the Danville Fire Marshal.  The Red Cross is also assisting the homeowner.

The Danville Fire Department responded with four engines, a ladder truck, command and support units, and the fire marshal.  Twenty firefighters were on the scene for about two-and-a-half hours. The Danville Life Saving Crew responded, along with water and gas workers and Danville Police.

Rosedale Court is a dead end street that runs off of Alpine Drive in North Danville.
