ROANOKE, Va. – Two Virginia State troopers suffered minor injuries when their police cruisers collided during a pursuit in Roanoke Wednesday.
Virginia State Police officers were assisting with an ongoing narcotics “High-Intensity Drug Trafficking Area” investigation at the time of the wreck.
As officers approached a vehicle in a parking lot at the intersection of 9th Street SE and Morrill Avenue SE, the driver sped away at a high rate of speed. When the troopers began their pursuit, the two state police vehicles collided.
Both troopers were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of minor injuries. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
