DANVILLE, Va. – A 7-week-old girl is safe after an Amber Alert was issued Thursday night. Now, the baby’s parents are in custody and face abduction charges.
The Caswell County Sheriff’s Office said Jupiter Aria Caudle’s parents took her while trying to avoid Child Protective Services earlier this month.
42-year-old Jody Allan Caudle, and Taylor Ann Crawford, 24, are alleged to have abducted the baby from a temporary placement.
Caswell County authorities said the parents had previously tested positive for meth, heroin and fentanyl. They said the child’s mom was breastfeeding the baby, Jupiter Aria Caudle.
Investigators learned the couple was with the baby at a motel in Danville, Virginia. Before officers arrived, they left. Hours later, Danville Police found the parents and the child, unharmed. Both parents were taken into custody on unrelated charges.
The baby is with Child Protective Services.
An Amber Alert was issued earlier Thursday for the parents and the vehicle they were driving, a Ford Edge with Virginia tags KN-2520. The couple and baby were located about 7:18 p.m. at a motel in the 3000 block of West Main Street in Danville.
