SOUTH BOSTON, Va. – South Boston Police are asking the public for help after a convenience store was robbed at gun-point Saturday night.
A 911 call was received just before 7:40 pm for an armed robbery at the Apple Mart convenience store, located in the 1400 block of Seymour Dr.
Police responded and interviewed witnesses who described the robber as a Black male, wearing a black hoodie and a black mask. He displayed what looked like a semi-automatic handgun and demanded money from the clerk. He was given an undisclosed amount of cash. He also robbed a customer of his wallet and other valuables before fleeing the store on foot.
Officers from the South Boston Police Department and the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office responded, along with a K9 tracking dog. The dog tracked the robber for a short distance before losing the scent.
The suspect is further described as 5′09″ to 5′10″ with a slender build.
