LEXINGTON, Va. – Virginia Military Institute has made it official: buildings on the Lexington campus that bear the name of Confederate Gen. Thomas “Stonewall” Jackson will be renamed. The military school’s board of visitors voted to remove the name from Old Barracks and Memorial Hall. A committee will determine new names for the buildings and whether an archway also needs to be scrubbed of any reference to Jackson. No timetable was set for the renaming.
