DANVILLE, Va. – Danville’s fire marshal has determined that a weekend fire that gutted a home on Longview Drive was caused by a cell phone charger that was left on a bed.
The call was received just after 8 p.m. about a fire at 139 Longview Avenue.
When crews arrived, they found a brick rancher with heavy smoke and fire showing from the front of the residence. Two bedrooms were fully involved.
The fire was brought under control quickly and firefighters determined that no one was home during the time of the fire.
The house suffered extensive smoke, heat and flame damage.
The residents are being assisted by the American Red Cross.
