DUBLIN, Va. – Workers at Virginia’s Volvo plant have rejected a new contract. After reaching a tentative agreement with Volvo back in May, the United Auto Workers have voted down the labor proposal.
The plan is a six-year contract covering about 2900 employees at Volvo’s New River Valley truck assembly operations in Dublin.
The UAW had ended its strike against the NRV plant in light of the tentative agreement and resumed production on May 3.
NRV Vice President and General Manager Franky Marchand said Sunday he remains confident the company will be able “to reach a mutually beneficial agreement” with workers.
Negotiations began four months ago.
