BLAIRS, Va. – Live music is returning to Pittsylvania County. The board of supervisors cleared the way Tuesday for a pair of outdoor festivals at the Blue Ridge Ampitheater in Blairs.

The board approved permits for Worship on the Mountain and the Blue Ridge Country Music Festival, both scheduled to be held in the fall. Purpose Driven Events, the company sponsoring the festivals, is predicting that each event will have approximately 8,000 attendees each day.

The much larger Blue Ridge Rock Festival will be discussed at a meeting next month. The rock concert is slated to be held in September, a week after the Worship on the Mountain event.

The new ampitheater has a seating capacity of 30,000.
