DANVILLE, Va. – A missing baby who was at the center of an AMBER Alert in North Carolina has been found safe in Danville, Virginia.
Officials say 1-year-old Gabriel Newman was abducted out of Person County, North Carolina Thursday night.
On Friday, officials confirmed that Gabriel was found safe in Danville, Virginia. Danville police assisted in the recovery.
The suspected abductor, identified as Gregory Wendell Newman, is Gabriel’s father. Gregory Newman has been charged with larceny of a stolen vehicle and probation violation.
The child’s mother had temporary custody of the baby and authorities feared that Gabriel might be in danger from his father due to past statements made by Gregory Newman.
