DANVILLE, Va. – God’s Pit Crew hopes to stuff 1,000 Blessing Buckets Friday.

The local volunteer organization wants to be ready to respond to what’s expected to be a busy hurricane season. One hurricane has already come ashore in Florida and there have been five named storms so far this year.

Moore’s Electrical and Mechanical on Edgewood Avenue in Altavista will hold the events from 10 a.m. to noon Friday, then again from 2 to 4 p.m.

God’s Pit Crew has a mobile packing unit with a custom-made assembly line to bring supplies and equipment. Moore’s and God’s Pit Crews have lined up volunteers to make it happen.

The Blessing Buckets contain toiletries, shampoo and other essentials needed in times of disaster.
