PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. – We are learning more about a possible motive in Sunday’s fatal shooting in Pittsylvania County. Court filings indicate the two men involved may have been arguing over who owned some CDs.
Montel Morrell Oakley is charged with manslaughter in the death of Corey Andrew Moon, who was found dead of gunshot wounds at Oakley’s home in Hurt, Virginia early Sunday morning.
Oakley told investigators the two were arguing over some allegedly stolen CDs. During the disagreement, Oakley claims that Moon retrieved an AK-47 from his vehicle and the two men fought over possession of the gun. Oakley told authorities that he eventually grabbed the gun and shot Moon several times. Moon was pronounced dead at the scene.
Oakley continues to be held in the Pittsylvania County Jail, without bond.
