Danville, Va., — Danville Community College will require that students, faculty, staff and visitors wear masks on campus, effective immediately.

The announcement follows guidance provided by the Virginia Community College System and new recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

“Our first priority has always been the safety of our students and personnel when it comes to creating an environment of educational excellence,” said DCC Interim President Dr. Muriel Mickles.

Mickles added that “all persons on DCC’s campus will be required to wear CDC-recommended face coverings in indoor public spaces, regardless of vaccination status, effective immediately.” She called this “a necessary step to ensure the continued safety and well-being of everyone in our campus community,” calling it “a temporary requirement.”

Danville Community College and the VCCS continue to encourage vaccination as the best course of action to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
