CHATHAM, Va. – A Pittsylvania County man has been sentenced to more than 35 years in prison for the murder of his wife.
Jesus Ochoa Sanchez had earlier entered guilty pleas to charges in the stabbing death of Xochil Ochoa last June. Jesus Sanchez pleaded guilty to murder and three counts of assault on a law enforcement officer and a misdemeanor charge of assault and battery.
Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the home to investigate a domestic assault. They found the woman dead and Sanchez armed with a gun. After he refused to drop the weapon, Sanchez was shot by deputies. The couple’s children were inside the house at the time but were not injured.
Sanchez was sentenced Wednesday to 35 years for murder. He received another four years for assault and battery and for assaulting a law enforcement officer.
