DANVILLE, Va. – God’s Pit Crew is headed to Haiti to assist earthquake victims in the impoverished country. Nearly 2,000 people are confirmed dead following an earthquake that struck the island nation on Sunday. Survivors are dealing with flooding brought on by Tropical Storm Fred.

God’s Pit Crew directer Randy Johnson says the relief agency mobilized efforts within hours of the quake and is sending protein bars, medical supplies, bottled water, and “Blessing Buckets” filled with food, toothpaste and other personal care items.

Johnson plans a long-term effort in Haiti, as the agency prepares to help those closer to home who were affected by Tuesday’s storms and tornadoes.

God’s Pit Crew assisted Haitians during the last major earthquake in 2010.
