Police were called to Glendale Avenue just after 5 a.m. after receiving reports of shots fired. They responded but learned that the victim had been taken by private vehicle and left in the emergency room of Sovah Health-Danville.

Investigators say the man was sitting in a vehicle at Glendale and Verne Street when he was shot once in the back. Police say it appears he was the intended target of the gunman.

Police remained on the scene throughout the morning, collecting evidence.
