Blairs, VA – Over the next ten days, two music festivals will be taking place at the Blue Ridge Amphitheater in Blairs. The Worship at the Mountain Festival will begin later today and run through Sunday evening. While motorists should be aware and expect increased traffic, Virginia State Police WILL NOT close any crossovers in the area for this festival.
For the Blue Ridge Rock Festival, in excess of 35,000 people are expected to attend daily. Approximately 20,000 of those will be camping and remain on-site for the entire festival. Most campers will arrive Wednesday, September 8 and leave Monday, September 13. The festival runs Thursday through Sunday.
Beginning on Wednesday, September 8, all crossovers between Blairs Volunteer Fire and Rescue and Dry Fork Road (between two lines in attached photo) will be closed entirely or manned by Virginia State Police. This will continue through Monday, September 13. We encourage motorists to be aware of the significant flow of traffic coming into the area during the festivals and watch out for updated traffic patterns.
Below are the crossovers of Route 29 that will be closed or manned by law enforcement during the Rock Festival.
- Dry Fork Road: – handled by Troopers (Right lane will be closed approaching this location going South)
- Dry Fork Road at Realty Road will be closed for those approaching Route 29. They will have to take Realty Road and proceed South and turn at Blairs Traffic light in order to proceed North.
- Stone Mountain Road – handled by contractor. U-turn to go back South. Left lane will be closed approaching this crossover going South.
- Between Bojangles/Dollar General – closed
- At Circle K – closed
- Toy Lane – closed to passenger cars. Tractor Trailers and Shuttle buses will be allowed through crossover (monitored by Troopers)
- South of Toy Lane – closed
- R&L Smith (entrance to festival grounds) – closed and monitored by Troopers
- Yates Farm – closed
- Spring Garden Road – closed
- Georges Lane – closed
- The two crossovers above Blairs Fire and Rescue – closed
- Blairs Fire and Rescue- closed
The intersection of Route 29 Business and Malmaison Road will be open, but expect congestion.
