HENRY COUNTY, Va. – A student at Bassett High School is being held in a Danville detention facility after authorities say he threatened to harm some of his classmates.
The incident happened Monday. According to Henry County Sheriff’s investigators, faculty members contacted the school resource officer after a student made verbal threats that involved using a firearm to harm a small group of classmates.
The 14-year-old boy who allegedly threatened his classmates is charged with making threats of death or bodily injury to persons on school property.
Sheriff’s investigators and school officials worked to ensure that the students were safe and the boy never acted on the threats.
He was taken into custody and is being housed at the W.W. Moore Juvenile Detention Facility in Danville.
