SOUTH BOSTON, Va. – The driver was pronounced dead at the scene of an accident on the Berry Hill Road Monday after the car left the road, struck a tree and split in half.
A caller reported the accident at around 11:20 a.m. South Boston Police responded and believe speed was a factor in the crash.
According to police, a 2004 Nissan Altima was traveling in the 1600 block of Berry Hill Road when the car ran off the road and hit a tree. The impact left the Nissan in pieces. The front end sheared off and came to rest against the tree, while the rear end ended up alongside an embankment on the side of the road.
The driver was a juvenile and was not believed to have been wearing a seat belt.
The deceased’s name has not been released.
