fair-shooting

PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. – Pittsylvania County authorities have made an arrest in last month’s fatal shooting of  a teenager at the Danville-Pittsylvania County Fair.

The suspect’s name is not being released at this time because he is under the age of 18; however, investigators confirm that he is charged with first-degree murder and with the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. No additional information is being released at this time.

16-year-old Joshua Rone was shot and killed in the parking lot outside the fairgrounds shortly before midnight on September 18.

Late last month, investigators released a blurry photo of three young men they listed as “persons of interest” in the murder investigation.

The sheriff’s office said the investigation is continuing and no date has been set for the juvenile’s first court appearance at this time.
