DANVILLE, Va. – There were no injuries in a Friday night fire at an apartment complex on Hermitage Drive in Danville.
The Danville Fire Department responded to 441 Hermitage Dr. Friday night at 8:30pm. Units arrived to find smoke coming from the windows on the second floor of a two-story apartment building.
All of the occupants were outside the building when the first units arrived and there were no injuries.
Firefighters entered the building and knocked down a small fire on the second floor. The fire was confined to a bedroom, but the apartment suffered smoke damage throughout.
The occupants are staying with family while repairs are made.
Three engines, one ladder truck, a safety officer and a chief officer were on scene for two hours.
The fire started in an overheated extension cord.
