MARTINSVILLE, Va. – An arrest has been made in a Martinsville shooting that left a man with a bullet wound to the stomach.

Deputies were called to Robertson Ridge Road in Axton just before 10 p.m. Sunday. There, deputies found Kristen Nicole Martin and Terrance Lee Kirby. Kirby had been shot. He was flown to a hospital in North Carolina but is expected to recover.

Investigators believe an acquaintance of the couple, 48-year-old Desseri Pritchett-Newman of Martinsville came inside the home and pointed a gun at both Martin and Kirby. They argued and deputies say Pritchett-Newman shot Kirby.

She has been arrested and charged with breaking and entering with intent to commit murder and malicious wounding. Pritchett-Newman is being held in the Henry County Jail without bond.
