DANVILLE, Va. – The cause of a Monday night house fire remains under investigation.

The Danville Fire Department was called to an abandoned home at 120 Davis Street just before 9:30 p.m. and found heavy flames coming from the side of the building.

Crews  entered the small brick house and encountered heavy fire in the attic. The fire was knocked down quickly with a single hose line.  Utilities were disconnected and a search was conducted to make certain no one was inside the structure.

Three engines, a ladder truck and support personnel responded.

Danville Police, utilities and rescue personnel assisted at the scene.
