ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, N.C. – The Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office has felony warrants for 40-year-old Jonathan Carl Jones of Madison, N.C. after authorities say he attempted to run his ex off the road and then led deputies on a chase into Southside Virginia.

It started about 9:15 Monday night. Investigators say a man in a black Ford F-250 was trying to run another vehicle off the road following a domestic dispute. The driver of the pickup had previously been in a relationship with the woman in the other vehicle.

Eden Police attempted to stop the driver but he sped away and crossed the state line into Henry County. At this point, Virginia State Police took over the pursuit, which ended without incident in Martinsville.

Jones was arrested and charged with felony fleeing to elude arrest, assault on a female, assault with a deadly weapon (the vehicle) with intent to kill, and injury to personal property.

Jones will be extradited to North Carolina to stand trial.
