MARTINSVILLE, Va. – A man who was arrested and charged with a Martinsville shooting no longer faces charges in the incident.
Police said all charges against Donte Freeman have been dropped after the victim of the shooting recanted his statements to investigators.
Freeman was arrested on Nov. 10 and charged in a shooting that happened three days earlier.
The shooting happened on Dunlap Street in Martinsville at around 9:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 7.
Police found 39-year-old Johnny Omar Spencer suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to Sovah Health Martinsville, then transferred to Carilion Roanoke Memorial for additional treatment.
Police said at the time that Spencer suffered a serious gunshot wound in the attack.
