DANVILLE, Va. – The vehicle involved in Saturday’s fatal hit-and-run accident on West Main St. in Danville has been located. Police said Sunday afternoon that “the vehicle was recovered in Danville after the police department received a call from a citizen.” The vehicle has been identified and impounded by police for crime scene processing.
There was no word on an arrest or possible charges in the incident.
Officers responded to West Main Street near the intersection of Lady Astor Street just after 9:30 p.m. Saturday for a fatal hit-and-run accident involving a pedestrian. The victim was transported by EMS but pronounced dead at Sovah Danville Medical Center.
The victim has been identified as a 74-year-old Danville man. His name is being withheld pending notification of family members.
