DANVILLE, Va. – The Danville Area Humane Society is offering $1,100 for information leading to the arrest of the person who threw a kitten against a wall Tuesday. It happened about 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Pleasant View Apartments.
Police were notified and reportedly brought the kitten to the animal shelter. A veterinarian will examine the kitten, but the organization says the kitten’s injuries do not appear to be life-threatening.
Once he arrived at the shelter, the kitten was fed and given a warm place to sleep.
The Humane Society is offering $500 for information that leads to the arrest of the person responsible. Private donors have contributed another $600 to the reward fund.
Statement from the Danville Area Humane Society:
We are offering a $500 reward for information that leads to the arrest of the people responsible for throwing this little kitten into a wall in the Pleasant View apartments area around 6:00 this evening. The police were called and took him to the shelter. His injuries do not appear to be life threatening and he will be examined by a veterinarian. Rewards are funded by the Earl Merricks Stop the Cruelty Fund.
He was very hungry and ate readily. He snuggled into a blanket and is asleep. Incidents like this are why the board and staff remain committed to being an open-admission shelter, screening adoptive homes, and doing everything in our power to keep animals out of harm’s way.
Update: Bryon Hunt has added $100 to the reward and The Pink Plumber has added $500, for a total reward of $1,100.
