BEDFORD COUNTY, Va. — Authorities have identified the man who was shot and killed during an attack in the town of Forest as 40-year-old Daniel Wayne Eades of Gretna.

The Bedford County 911 Center received a call late Friday night from a woman who said her estranged husband had forced himself into her home armed with a knife, and that he had been shot. When deputies arrived at the home on Commonwealth Circle they found Eades dead of multiple gunshot wounds.

The woman told investigators Eades forced his way into the home after the she opened the front door and attempted to stab her with a knife. A male acquaintance in the home saw the attack, grabbed a gun and shot Eades several times. The woman was not harmed.

Several knives were recovered at the scene, along with the handgun used in the shooting.

Eades’ body has been taken to the medical examiner’s office for an autopsy.

The sheriff’s office described this as “an ongoing investigation.”
