DANVILLE, Va. – Danville now has its own teen center. The facility in Green Street Park formerly served as a community police station but now has a pool table and other games designed for a younger audience.
The renamed PEACE Center will provide a safe haven for students to complete homework assignments, participate in other programs, and take advantage of dance classes, video gaming, or watching television.
The Danville Police Department’s school resource officers and youth engagement workers will also have offices in the center. Police will maintain a strong presence at the facility.
The idea is to promote positive relationships with teens as a means of reducing crime.
