ALLEGHANY COUNTY, Va. – A three-year-old who suffered a gunshot wound to the head at his Alleghany County home has died.

The shooting happened earlier this week on Dolly Ann Drive. Alleghany County Sheriff’s deputies found the boy with a gunshot wound. The boy was airlifted to a Roanoke trauma center Tuesday night. The sheriff’s office said he has since died of his injuries.

Officials say the body was sent to the Roanoke Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsy.

At this point, no one has been charged in the shooting but the investigation is continuing.
