DANVILLE, Va. – A 22-year-old Danville man was struck and killed in a freak accident on the Mount Cross Road early Wednesday.
Virginia State Police say Christian Lee Kidwell was driving a 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt that ran off the right side of the road and struck a small tree, resulting in minor damage to the vehicle.
Kidwell got out of the Chevy and stepped into the roadway, where he was struck by a 2010 Toyota Camry heading south on Mount Cross Road. He died at the scene.
The accident happened about 1:40 a.m. near the Beavers Mill Road intersection.
State Police did not identify the driver of the Camry.
The accident remains under investigation, but no charges will be filed.
