Due to a rise in COVID-19 cases, Centra Health is suspending visitation at its hospitals, emergency departments, urgent cares, primary care practices and all CMG locations.
According to a news release from Centra, the suspension does not apply to clergy, parents of minors, doulas and support personal, and exceptions will be made for end-of-life care. There are iPads and other methods of communication available to help patients stay in touch with their loved ones.
Centra has now exceeded its prior all-time peak in January 2021 of 131 COVID-19 patents. The system is reporting 154 total patients for Jan. 12, with 135 at Lynchburg General Hospital, 15 at Southside Community Hospital and four at Bedford Memorial Hospital.
Visitors are encouraged to check the Centra website for the latest visitation guidelines.
