DANVILLE, Va. – The Danville Police Department in partnership with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) offices in Roanoke and Greensboro, N.C. have identified, located, and arrested Charlie Joe Harrell of Burlington for the January 4 burglary at Riverside Pawn on Riverside Drive in Danville.
Harrell was charged with burglary and grand larceny in Danville before being arrested in North Carolina Wednesday night.
Tips sent in from the public led investigators to identify Harrell as the suspect and also aided in locating the car used in the larceny.
Danville Police were assisted in their investigation by multiple law enforcement agencies including the Caswell County Sheriff’s Department, the Burlington and Greensboro Police Departments, the Danville Commonwealth’s Attorney’s office, and the United States Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Virginia.
A $6,000 reward had been offered by information leading to the arrest and indictment of the man seen in surveillance video entering Riverside Pawn earlier this month and taking multiple firearms from the business.
The help from the public combined with teamwork between multiple law enforcement agencies led to the recovery of all 7 firearms stolen in this burglary, along with illegal narcotics and more illegal firearms. As a result of the investigation into this burglary, multiple other individuals are now facing various firearms and drug charges.
