PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. – Outgoing Gov. Ralph Northam on Thursday announced a grant of more than $1.3 million for the Southern Virginia Megasite at Berry Hill. The money will be used for the grading of lots 1 and 2 at the industrial park, which is the largest on the East Coast.
Northam hinted at the award during a stop last month in Danville, calling the project a great example of the cooperative efforts of the city of Danville and Pittsylvania County.
Henry County’s Commonwealth Crossing Business Centre received a $1 million grant, while the Summit View Business Park in Franklin County is also getting just over $1 million.
The awards are three of 11 development grants for projects across the Commonwealth. The projects total $7 million.
The Virginia Business Ready Site Program development grants are administered by the Virginia Economic Development Partnership. This program identifies, assesses, and improves the readiness of potential industrial sites, which must contain a minimum of 100 contiguous, developable acres.
