DANVILLE, Va. – A driver escaped injury when he lost control of a large van and crashed into an apartment complex on Paxton Street in Danville.
Police and rescue units responded to the Danbury Apartments at 872 Paxton St. just before 5 p.m. Monday.
The van crashed through the front of the apartment #5, with about three-fourths of the vehicle coming to rest inside the building.
The driver of the van was not injured and was able to get out of the van through the back door. There were no occupants inside the apartment at the time of the incident.
There were two apartment units that sustained heavy structural damage requiring the units to be condemned. Both apartment units that received damage were not occupied at the time of the incident and there were no injuries.
It’s believed that the driver of the van suffered a medical issue that caused him to lose control of the vehicle.
