CARROLL COUNTY, Va. – Virginia State Police have identified the driver who was killed Thursday morning when his van collided with a Carroll County school bus.
42-year-old Nicholas B. Yates of Pulaski, Va., was the driver of the Kia Sedona who died at Twin County Regional Hospital.
The wreck happened just after 7:30 a.m. on Route 58 near Route 701 in Carroll County.
A Carroll County Public School’s bus pulled from Route 701 into the eastbound lanes of Route 58, where it was involved in a collision with Yates’ SUV, which was also eastbound on Route 58.
The driver of the bus, 64-year-old Antonia E. Felts of Fries, Va., was not injured in the crash.
16 students were on the bus at the time of the accident. One, a 13-year-old female, was transported to Twin County Regional Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
This crash remains under investigation.
