Gov. Glenn Youngkin has ordered that all state flags be flown at half-staff Wednesday in memory of the two campus police officers who were killed on the Bridgewater campus last week.
Bridgewater College Police Officer John Painter and Bridgewater College Campus Safety Officer Vashon “J.J.” A. Jefferson were shot while responding to a report of a suspicious person at Memorial Hall. The shooter opened fire, then ran from the scene. He was apprehended and charged with two counts of capital murder.
By order of the governor, all Virginia flags are to be flown at half-staff beginning at sunrise on all local, state and federal buildings and grounds. This will last through sunset Wednesday.
