DANVILLE, Va. – Danville Police are investigating a double shooting that left one man dead and another seriously wounded.
At 12:23 Thursday morning, police responded to a call of shots fired and a man being struck in the 200 block of Epps Street. Officers located 40-year-old Antoni Lamar Logan at the scene. He was suffering from a gunshot wound. About six minutes after the initial 911 call, another 40-year-old Danville man arrived by private vehicle at the SOVAH Danville emergency room, also suffering from gunshot wounds.
Logan was treated at the scene and transported to the hospital where he later died. His death is being carried as a homicide.
The second 40-year-old male victim was treated for his injuries and flown to an undisclosed advanced care medical facility for further treatment. He was last listed in serious condition.
According to Danville Police, their initial investigation shows that both males were shot in the same incident in the 200 block of Epps Street. Police say this does not appear to be a random act of violence.
Crime scene and criminal investigators have worked on scene throughout the night.
The investigation is active and ongoing.
