(Danville, VA) – Three more senior from George Washington High School signed commitment letters. This group brings the total number of student athletes on the Eagle football team who will continue their athletic career to eight for the class of 2022. The commitments are as follows:
Jacob Trainor – Hampden Sydney
Tamarion Hawkins – Guilford College
Jalen Spratt – Virginia State University
Spratt will join fellow seniors Ahmad Poole and Donovan Howard who have already committed to playing in Petersburg next season. He looks forward to the trio making big impacts early on both sides of the ball.
Trainor who played center on the offensive line added time at linebacker in the fall campaign and will maintain that position as he heads to Farmville.
Hawkins will play wide receiver as he did at GW but said he was more than willing to do whatever is necessary if asked by the coaches in Greensboro.
The eight signings is the single largest class in Eagle’s head coach Nick Anderson’s 16 year career in coaching. He believed the highest up until that point had been six in a single season. He reiterated the teams success came from self motivation since COVID-19 shut down off season training camps during this class’s high school career. Limited weight room access and practice opportunities with coaches due to Danville Public School’s safety regulations left the students to continue the work on their own.
Congratulations to all of these young men as they move on to the next level!
