Danville Firefighters were called out Saturday afternoon around 5 for a brush fire burning on River Park Drive, across from the Danville Welcome Center. Crews took about an hour to get the flames extinguished. Nobody was hurt, and there was no report of any property damage. The cause of the weekend fire remains undetermined.
Gusty winds and dry conditions are believed to have played a part. Folks are reminded that Virginia’s 4 p.m. Burn Law is still in effect through the end of April. It prohibits any outdoor burning until after 4pm, but only if conditions are ideal.
